Thinking of Dieting?

Then just do it! Nah, not dieting but thinking it! This is not some mumbo-jumbo mind control tactic but a technique first espoused by B.F. Skinner called 'Behaviour Control'. Through 'behaviour control', you can actually determine your own eating habits with thoughts of punishing or rewarding yourself, to put you in control of what you desire for your body.

Part of this process involves making full use of your imagination and creating ‘mini-movies’ in your mind to steer you towards the choices that you desire for yourself.

An example here could be; you reaching out to take a bite off that brownie cake that you just bought from the bakery. But, putting ‘behaviour control’ into action, you would now imagine flying cockroaches leaping out of that cake having already laid their eggs in it. That should put you off eating the cake and if it doesn’t, I would seriously think about you getting help. But ok, if that really does not deter you, then try imagining something that does. At the point of you flinging that cake out the window in disgust, you should reward yourself with positive and wonderful thoughts; like getting into that gown or suit you tried your whole life getting into or anything that motivates you to keep at your plan of dieting. Just don't imagine yourself going back to the bakery and buying another brownie.

There’s more to this, which can provide you with a much clearer picture of what you should do and how ‘behaviour control’ works to your benefit, but this is as much as I can tell you about this topic. If you are really keen in this area, do yourself a favour and find out if Amazon has books on it or maybe even your local library. Remember, if this works for you, you can apply this technique in other areas of your life as well.

Just Think It!
